Itinerary:

Welcome to my *You Can Do It*  series of hikes!  These hikes are designed especially for folks who are new to hiking OR to the hike location.  They'll go no faster than a leisurely pace and we will pause to take pictures when the opportunity arises.

I always enjoy bringing AOC groups out to explore the trails of the Clinton Nature Preserve.  This free, 200-acre park was donated to Douglas County by Ms. Annie Mae Clinton. The park is required by Ms. Clinton's will to remain in its natural state as much as possible. The park contains nature trails and open exploration areas.

We'll have a wonderful time hiking some easy trails that meander past meadows, wind past a picturesque pond, go beside a bubbling brook (dry now because of our current drought), cross over exposed rock, and pass through lovely woods.  Also on our hike we'll visit the John Thomas Carnes Cabin, circa 1830, a pre-Civil War residence that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. If you have never been to this wonderful park, I can promise you won’t be disappointed.

So come join me on this wonderful AOC hike at Clinton Nature Preserve!

P.S. They have some other nice amenities that perhaps you’ll want to experience another time – including a .41 miles walking track and an incredible playground for your kids.
