Itinerary:

This event involves scrambling up and down rocks, walking on very narrow paths near ledges, and going up and down steep leaf covered hills.

While this event is roughly 4.5 miles it is rated as a D3 because it has a lot of "Special considerations" . Have you ever wondered where all those barely there paths you see disappearing into the woods go? Well we will be taking most of these unofficial paths around the park. Some of them are extremely steep and involve going up or down areas on all fours or lowering yourself down rocks. You will also need to be comfortable on very narrow trails near cliffs.

Now that all of the warnings are out of the way it is time to say this is a great intown hike. It really ends up feeling like you are in the wilderness. The pace should be fairly moderate in easy sections and then slowing down to very slow when we get to the technical spots. I estimate that it will take 2.5 hours but it could take a little more or less depending on the group. Also note that if you bring hiking poles they become a hinderance in areas that you need your hands free to scramble. I recommend that if you bring them that you have some way to stow them in your daypack for certain parts. Additionally because we will be going on little used "trails" I recommend pants because of the brush/briars in places.

WE WILL MEET AT THE INDIAN TRAIL ENTRANCE WHICH IS DOWN A SHORT DIRT ROAD! There is a $3 parking fee payable with cash.

Additionally if it is raining I will still do a hike however certain portions of the event may be eliminated for safety reasons.
