This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Come join for a hike at Tallulah Gorge (do you love steps?)

We will start our hike on the North Rim Trail, then descend steps to Hurricane Falls platform near the base of the gorge, up to the South Rim Trail. Our total time at Tallulah should be about 2 1/2 to 3 hours.  Then we get in cars and drive five miles south to Panther Creek.

We will hike the scenic Panther Creek Trail which is just over six miles roundtrip.  We will take a short lunch break at Panther Creek Falls.  This part of our day should be about 2 1/2 to 3 hours roundtrip. (including the lunch stop at the falls)

THis hike is rated as a D4 - the Panther Creek part of the hike is a D3 but the steps and additional distance by adding Tallulah bumps it up to a D4.  HIke at Panther Creek will be at a moderate to fast pace.  Tallulah Trails about the same pace.  Going up steps will be at a much slower pace.

Total hiking mileage should be about 11-12 miles - total hiking time about 5 hours.  Time or mileage may be under/over.  Hike is exploratory as I have never been to Panther Creek.  I have been to Tallulah a few times but never led a hike there.

Hike to begin at Tallulah promptly at 10:00 a.m. - if you will be meeting us at Tallulah please allow appropriate travel time.  (see carpool information below).  We should be back to our cars in the Panther Creek parking lot no later than 4:00.   Carpool should arrive back at Indian Trail park and ride before 6:00.
