Bring your own boat, beg, borrow or rent one and come on out. Join me in enjoying a fun day paddling and picking up trash and whatever else we find on the bottom or the shore on Bull Sluice Lake from Azalea Park up and down both sides of the river and back. Along the way we will hug the shores and pick up trash as part of the 7th Annual Sweep the Hooch clean-up event. We will meet at the park and paddle out and back from the ramp. Our AOC group will be helping along with other groups of volunteers that are going to be walking, wading and paddling all up and down the river. I call us the "AOC Water Wing"!!

To be on the official roster with Chattahoochee Riverkeeper you MUST sign up at

Fill in required info, then choose paddler, then List the AOC Water Wing as your group and click Azalea Park as your section to paddle. Finish the form and submit it.

THEN, register for the event below as usual.

The paddle itself is 3 miles out and back. It is all flat water on Bull Sluice Lake, which is a wide spot in the Chattahoochee from Azalea Drive Park to Morgan Falls Dam and is suitable for all levels of experience. Along the way we will pass the side "bays" near the Chattahoochee Nature Center and will then be along the shores of the Gold Branch Unit where we can wave to the walkers and waders cleaning up on shore. We also pass by and under the beautiful rock Bluffs on the South side of the lake.

Bring a bite to eat and plenty to drink during your time on the river.
All volunteers will receive a big thank you from the Riverkeeper and Trout Unlimited and the RIVER! Also, a year's membership in Chattahoochee Riverkeeper is part of the day's rewards.

Your AOC event sign-up below will be in addition to the registration above and is for AOC event credit. You are free to register with any group on the Riverkeeper site if the Azalea site is full or you would rather wade, walk or paddle closer to home.

If you have any questions email me or call. I'll see you the morning of the 8th!

It will be loads of fun and feels good to be part of such a huge day! Last year there were 600 plus people working up and down the river! We got 15 tons of trash.  Wow.

If you want to join us and do not have a kayak, please email the trip leader for some options to obtain one.

Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, National Park Service and Trout Unlimited (TU) have joined together to organize a multi-site cleanup within the 48 miles of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA) plus new venues further downstream! We will be tackling multiple Park Units and paddling 11 segments. All 392 national parks across the country (including the CRNRA) will have free admission during National Park Week.
