Itinerary:

No excuses for NOT going on this hike.  Some of you have asked for a hike for beginners who can't handle speed, distance, or elevation changes yet.  Well, this is the one for you.  We'll go at an easy pace at this Sandy Springs location that is a hidden treasure right smack in the middle of bustling Sandy Springs.

Big Trees Preserve should be beautiful at this time of year, with flowers pushing through the earth and trees greening up.  And to think all of this serene beauty is sequestered right on Roswell Road at the parking lot for the government building!   Plus, there's a nice bathroom house right at the trail head.

This is an excellent hike for folks who want to get into hiking for the first time, who want to simply get out and enjoy the beauty of nature and breathe some fresh air without exerting themselves, or who want to begin hiking again after an injury.  Veteran hikers are certainly welcome, but please don't complain about the slow speed!  (Running is prohibited in this peaceful little park!)

There are several little trails at Big Tree Preserve, including  (1) the Backcountry Trail; (2) the Spring Hollow Trial; and (3) the Jackson Overlook Trail. These trails are for foot travel only and are easy to walk with no steep grades.
