Itinerary:

We will hike all 10 miles of trails on this close in mountain located north of Atlanta in Cumming GA. You almost feel like you're on the Appalachian Trail in parts. We will start with the Indian Seats Trail going clockwise from the visitors center and climb about 600 feet with several switchbacks to the top of 1963 foot Sawnee Mountain. We will then descend to cross Bettis-Tribble Gap Rd. and continue to the six mile Mountainside Trail System that is a loop trail. We will then re-cross Bettis-Tribble Gap Rd. and finish the second half of the Indian Seats Trail loop back to the Visitor's Center.

We will stay together as a group with a leader. The pace will be an average of about 2.3 mph on some hilly terrain. If you haven't been on a D4 recently, you may get a call to make sure that this is a safe, good hike for you and fair to the others. Its starting to get warm, so bring plenty of water (2 to 3 liters) so we all stay hydrated. Bring a lunch or snacks for a short break at around noon.

Plan on arriving 5 minutes early to review itinerary and introductions.
