Itinerary:

This is a part of the Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield that many people have never seen.  It's a refreshing change from the mountain climb, and less strenuous.  The trails are relatively flat compared to Big Kennesaw, Little Kennesaw and Pigeon Hill, but the distance and pace of the hike will provide a good workout.

Be sure to check directions.  You will be parking at the Pigeon Hill parking lot, which is at the intersection of Burnt Hickory Rd and Old Mountain Rd, NOT at the Visitors' Center.  Be aware that there are no bathroom facilities  at this location (though there is an abundance of trees!).

Up to three dogs allowed on this hike. Park regulations require that dogs be kept on leash. Bags are provided in dispensers at the park for picking up dog droppings.

From the parking lot we will walk 1.5 miles along the West Trail to Dallas Highway. From there we will walk to Cheatham Hill and back to Dallas Highway, a total of 1.4 miles. Another 2.2 miles along the East Trail will take us back to Burnt Hickory Rd. After crossing the road we will proceed a short distance and turn left on a connector trail that intersects the East Trail near the bottom of Pigeon Hill. Turning left, we will descend  a short distance to the parking lot.
