Itinerary:

This is a 3 day bicycle ride & camping event starting in Chattanooga, TN ending  in Atlanta (Mableton really) with overnight camping stops in Summerville & Rockmart, hosted by BRAG (Bicycle Ride Across Georgia).  Our friends at BRAG are giving AOC members registered for this event a 20% discount on registration for this ride (discount code will be emailed once you sign up) .

The U.S. Bicycle Route System (USBRS) is a developing network of officially numbered interstate bicycle routes that connect America’s cities, suburbs, and rural areas. Georgia recently joined the USBRS by designating a system of roads and trails as US Bike Route 21.  BRAG is hosting the 2nd annual ride on September 29 through October 1.

US Bicycle Route 21 is a great intro to long distance riding or a great tune up for experienced riders. This is a show and go event.  YOU RIDE AT YOUR OWN PACE. This event is not a race.  The AOC will camp together.   There is great entertainment nightly with bands and local attractions in our overnight towns. Each day BRAG will carry your luggage from town to town so you can focus on your riding. BRAG will also have 3 or more rest stops each day so you can snack,  get rehydrated, rest and talk to friends along the way. Get a flat tire, medical issue, or bonk one day? No worries, BRAG has SAG (Support & Gear) that'll come pick you up.   Nightly there will be food trucks and food vendors on site, the Red Brick beer truck and bands.  This is an athletic event so quiet time is at 10:00 pm and we encourage responsible drinking.

INFORMATION AND FAQ ON THIS RIDE CAN BE FOUND AT: http://www.brag.org/21  YOU MUST SIGN UP FOR THIS EVENT ON THE AOC WEBSITE AND REGISTER FOR THE RIDE ON THE BRAG WEBSITE AND PAY.  THE AOC IS NOT HANDLING ANY MONEY FOR THIS EVENT.

Getting to the start:  There is a shuttle that will take you and your bike from Atlanta to Chattanooga to the start OR from Chattanooga to Atlanta at the end (there is an additional cost for this service - see BRAG website - you must sign up for this in advance) There is long term parking for you and your car should you wish to drive your own vehicle at the start and at the end.  There is no carpool for this event.  You may wish to contact members who are signed up and work out your own carpool and/or sharing of a hotel on Thursday night.

Saturday:  Summerville to Rockmart 58.4 miles
Sunday:  Rockmart to  Atlanta (Mableton really)  43.1 miles

See BRAG website for a comprehensive list of pricing options, price increases and deadlines.

Daily there will be coffee & breakfast onsite, tech support, food trucks & local vendors for dinner, first aid/medical,  a shower truck, the luggae truck, music trivia, bands, a beer truck and the most beautiful bicyling route you've ever seen!!

In Summerville, the town goes all out for us.  In Rockmart we stay at the SpaceLand Skydiving Center and they put on a display of Skydiving by their instructors for us and you can skydive yourself if you wish to do so.
