Itinerary:

The BMT is a 290 mile trail through the countryside of Georgia, finishing in Tennessee by mainly following the western ridge of the Appalachian mountains. 

This strenuous hike will start at the Toccoa River Swingbridge near Blue Ridge, Georgia. We will hike approximately 8.7 miles along the Benton Mackay Trail to Three Forks on the AT before returning the way we came.  We will stop at Long Creek Falls for lunch. 

There is approximately 4300 feet of ascent on this hike, please only sign up if you are fit enough to complete a hike of this distance and elevation gain. 

If you have not recently completed a D5 or D6 event with the AOC we will contact you to see if this event is appropriate for you. 

We will allow up to 2 well behaved dogs on this trip, please make sure they can cover this distance. 


Required Items to Bring:
  • Emergency rain gear (even if chance of rain is minimal)
  • Water or Sports drink, at least 3 liters
  • Enough food to keep your energy level up on a 6 or 7 hour hike
  • Hiking boots or shoes
  • Clothing appropriate for the weather

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $60.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
