Itinerary:

This is a doubleheader hike - I'll do this one at Cherokee Bluffs and then another right down the street at a new park called Williams Mill Greenspace. The Williams Mill hike is exploratory (I've never been there before) and will likely be a short hike. If you plan on attending both then you must sign up for both. You are not required to attend both. Link to hike after:  https://www.atlantaoutdoorclub.com/event/details.asp? eventid=14594

Cherokee Bluffs is a relatively new park in Hall County. It's convenient to I-85 and I-985. The main trail is 2.25 miles but we'll take advantage of a loop trail we recently found to make the hike close to 4 miles. There is not too much elevation gain but the trails are heavy on the switchbacks. The trail doubles as a mountain bike trial but it's a terrible mountain bike trail - there are some small stumps in the trail, the trees are low hanging over the trail and lots of small branches stick out in to the trail. I don't recommend it for mountain biking (and I didn't see a single biker out there).

The trail is very pretty to hike. There is a good mix of sandy trails and pine needle covered trails. It dips down by the water a lot and there are some very nice bridges and foot bridges. It's definitely worth coming out to see.

Please arrive a few minutes before the start time to check in. We will depart on time. Meet at the far end of the parking lot up by the restroom building, not the trailhead close to the park entrance. There are restrooms but I can't guarantee they will be open.
