Itinerary:

Please read the entire page before registering for this event.

This hike has an estimated distance of around 18.5 miles, and the estimated total elevation gain is above 4,000 feet. We will hike at a consistent moderate pace with minimum stops. Recent hiking experience on similar hikes is required (D5/D6). If you haven't done similar hikes recently with AOC, please include a description of your recent hikes in the notes section when you register.

We will start the hike at Amicalola Falls Visitor's Center, taking the East Ridge Trail to the Top of the Falls parking lot. From there, we will take the Appalachian Approach Trail all the way to Springer Mountain. On the way back, we will take the AT Approach back until intersects with the Hike Inn trail. We will leave the AT Approach trail at this point and take the Hike Inn trail, making a quick stop at the Hike Inn. We will then continue our way back on the Hike Inn trail until we get to the Top of the Falls parking lot, and then take the East Ridge Trail back to the Visitor's Center.

For carpooling, we will leave Mansell Park & Ride by 7:00 AM, so please arrive earlier. We should arrive to the Visitor's Center and start the hike around 8:00 AM. Parking at the Amicalola Falls State Park costs $5 per car, or you can use your Georgia State Parks annual pass.
