Itinerary:

Event & Weather Update as of Sat AM Jan 27th:  This Hike is definitely still on!  NOTE that it's NOT our usual Meetup Spot for AOC Jones Bridge Hikes!!  We can expect comfortable temperatures in the high 50s both for this event and for the optional "Winter Gathering" just afterward - with separate AOC registration, hosted by our CRNRA friends. Although it will be cloudy and misty today, less than 1/10th inch of rain is expected until very late tonight.  If you've registered for the post-hike Gathering there's great shelter inside the Ed Center and on its huge adjoining covered deck.  Let's each carry a little lightweight rain gear or umbrella in case we need it for the hike or party, and we'll be fine!  -Charlie

Join us for this scenic 2-hour afternoon hike in the beautiful "Jones Bridge unit" of the Chattahoochee River Nat'l Recreation Area between Roswell and Norcross. We'll be on the same riverside trails that we enjoy on our usual hikes there, with the exception that we'll begin in the FREE parking lot of the Chattahoochee River Environmental Education Center - See special Directions & GPS info below.  The Ed Center is located about a mile west of the main Jones Bridge Park entrance and public lot.  We'll gather by the Ed Center a few minutes before 2:50 PM and hike eastward to the usual parking vicinity and back - i.e. a "Reverse Jones Bridge."

Immediately following the hike, you're all urged to stay and enjoy the annual "Wolf Moon Winter Gathering," including a free Dinner Party & Campfire at the Education Center.  Please see our separate AOC event posting about our participation and sign up if you're interested.  It's hosted each year by our good friend, Jerry Hightower and other CRNRA rangers and supporters.  We had a blast last year!  Click this link for that AOC article: https://www.atlantaoutdoorclub.com/event/details.asp?eventid=14972
