Itinerary:

It will be a gorgeous Sunday - so join me on a moderate hike around Amicalola Falls. I plan to enjoy the day, which means I will not run down the trail -  but I am usually not doodling along either. If this is your kind of hike, please join me.

Spectacular mountain scenery and hiking trails make this one of Georgia’s most popular state parks. At 729 feet, Amicalola Falls is the tallest cascading waterfall in the Southeast.

We will hike the AT Approach Trail and return back via the Len Foote route with an approx. 2,300 ft elevation gain. We will walk at a moderate speed with a few stragetic stops to have some water and regroup. A longer stop for our well-deserved lunch break at the Hike Inn is just one highlight we are all looking forward to! (approx. 30 - 40 minutes)

On most days, the Len Foote Inn graciously provides cookies and desserts, as well as the greatest coffee and hot chocolate - for a minimal tip! But, you can also bring your own lunch and snacks and sit outside on the lawn chairs.

We are hiking as a group, but experienced hikers that know the trail may walk slightly ahead but have to stop at significant intersections to let the rest of the group catch up.  ---  This is not a self-paced hike so you need to make sure you can walk at a moderate speed to stay with the group ----

The trip leaders will contact anyone who they feel do not have adequate experience for this hike. Contact us if you aren't sure if you can do this hike or keep up with the group.

I allow up to 4 dogs but you must adhere to State laws, have control over your pets at all times, and be prepared to walk in the back of the group if your dogs are not used to hiking with a group.

We will leave the carpool at Mansell Park and Ride at 9:00 am, so please be there 10 minutes early!!!

Please be prepared to drive yourself if we do not have enough drivers!

We will start the hike in the parking lot above the falls (Where the bathrooms are) at 10:00 am.

There is a $5.00 fee per car for the park.
