This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Have you ever wanted to start section hiking the AT? Have you ever wanted to through hike the GA section of the AT? Ever want to backpack in the winter? Want to do it in under a week? Here's your chance for all of it! **who in their right mind goes thru-hiking/backpacking on the AT in the winter?? YOU, you do. You're a bada$$, welcome!

This is an advanced winter backpacking event that will test all of your BP'ing & fast hiking abilities...Therefore everyone will need to sign up on the wait list - get vetted - and I'll move you over as long as you have recent - multiple - backpacking - AOC - D6/D7 event requirements. you might even want to clear it with your health care provider! TL reserves the right to move or deny placement based on safety for all involved.

This is an estimated 3+ day event in the winter that will be an epic way to kick off the first days of 2019, however, we have a little wiggle room. If ever there was a D7 backpacking event this would probably qualify!

There is an early take off time from the P&R lot so we can get a good jump on the trail...as for the next 72+ hours, if you have to ask, this event is probably not for you. Even if conditions are perfect 3 30+ mile days back to back are enough...throw in cold, wind, rain, snow, ice or worse...then you have something to talk about.

Once completed it's time to go get some REAL food and an adult beverage (or two or three)!

Required Items to Bring:

backpack, gear for an entire WEEK of eating & re-fueling your body!
s-bag, s-pad, tent/hammock, bear can/bag, first aid, sense of adventure and humor! water treatment gear...
...honestly if I have to tell you, this event is NOT for you.

Cash for driver - remember this individual will be driving 2 full out and backs, the return trip with some seriously stinky body funk! So while it's NOT required, financial incentives are encouraged!

Antibacterial body wipes to clean up a touch b4 the trip back, also need large HD trash bag for any wet/muddy gear.

Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.

small day bag with CLEAN go home gear, which driver will bring up
