Itinerary:

Join us for early sunrise on 1st of July at the Summit of Stone Mountain, and then hike around the Mountain in the cool morning hours.

We will meet and start our hike at the Confederate Hall Parking Lot ( close to restrooms). First we will take the Walk Up Mountain Trail to the summit of Stone Mountain. There we will enjoy the sunrise, have breakfast/snack. From there we will go down the same trail until we intersect Cherokee Trail. We will take Cherokee Trail and make a loop around the stone, enjoying views around the lake, and cool air in the morning hours. After we complete the loop we will go down the Walk Up Trail back to the parking.

We will be hiking with moderate pace with a few stops to enjoy scenery. The total hike distance will be around 6.5 miles, with about 1200 feet of elevation gain. Make sure that you are comfortable with hiking on rocky, and on some spots - wet slippery rocky surfaces.
