Itinerary:

Ok, I am not a big fan of the summer heat, but the mornings and evenings are so pleasant lately,0s

So that is the way to go. Garrard Landing is a nice little Roswell city park that is located on the banks of the Chattahoochee, next to the Peachtree Corners/Norcross area. It has a couple of miles of crisscrossing and meandering trails, and some different loops can be done to get a bit more mileage out of it.

From what I've read, the land for the park was bought from Larry Garrard, whose family had owned it for many, many years.  Garrard said his father bought the land at a bargain price, because the former owner thought it would soon be underwater.  Rather than sell it to a developer, Garrard wanted to see the land be used for the public good.

The park opens an hour before sunrise and closes an hour after sunset, and much of it is very open, so can see just fine with just a little light in the sky.   And the wide open landscape is great to view any nice sunset clouds, if the weather cooperates.

The trails are a combination of paved and softer surface gravel.  We will favor the gravel, but cover most all of them on the hike.  We will walk at a moderate pace for about 75 min.  The entire route is fairly flat, so we should be able to get around 3.5 mi.

The parking is slightly confusing, but can either park up by the Environmental Center in the main paved lot or can drive farther in and park by the playground or in a couple of spots by the river.  We can meet at the playground to start the hike, but if anyone prefers to park in the paved area at the main building, we will start the route by coming up to find you.
