***NOTE: There will be a mandatory packing meeting on Thursday, September 23, 2004 to ensure that everyone has the proper gear and to divvy up the community gear***

We will be hiking the first section of the Benton Mackaye trail from Springer MT to Three Forks. This is a sister trail to the AT in Georgia and runs about 100 miles in total (well do two 3.5 mile hikes). We will arrive Saturday morning and setup our shuttle cars before taking off. We will start the day off with a short .3 mile hike to the start of the Historic AT trail head then we will backpack in about 3-3.5 miles on Saturday and setup our first camp. On Sunday we will finish up section one with another 3 miles and return via our car shuttle to the trail head.

Tent/shelter
Backpack
Sleeping Bag and Pad
A few liters of Water
Food and Snacks (you are responsible for all of your own food and snacks)

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Mountain City, GA Noon at the Visitors center From Atlanta take I-75 north to I-575. Continue north on I-575 until it ends at the Pickens/Cherokee County border. At this point the Georgia Mountain Parkway begins. Blairsville is 60 miles from this point. Take U.S. 19 and 129 south from Blairsville for 10 miles. Turn right into Vogel State Park.
