Itinerary:

Tired of seeing the same old stuff time and time again? Want to check out something new? Well come join us for an adventure to some new spots - Chinquapin Mountain, Glen Falls, and Picklesimer Rock House Falls. Even if you've been to any of these locations, we're sure this will be a new and exciting route! The area is supposed to get over 2 inches of rain Wed-Fri, so the falls should be spectacular on Sat.

We will start the hike in the Blue Valley near the East Fork of Overflow Creek and will hike up a trail that mostly parallels the creek until reaching our first destination, Glen Falls. Glen Falls is a triple waterfall with 4 scenic overlooks which we will visit. The trail will start out with mild incline, but will soon climb very steeply, gaining about 500 ft in only a half mile, until we reach Glen Falls. We will make a stop at each of the viewpoints to enjoy the falls.

We will then continue our climb to the next destination on the list, Chinquapin Mountain. The trail starts out crossing the East Fork of Overflow Creek and then has many other tributary crossings and switchbacks. There are a couple small waterfalls and at least 4 overlooks located along the trail, which provide views of Whiteside Mtn, Rabun Bald, and the Blue Valley. After taking in the views along the Chinquapin Trail, we will then head off-trail towards the final destination, Picklesimer Rock House Falls.

The entire route down the mountain to Picklesimer Rock House Falls will be off-trail and steep! Picklemiser Falls is created by a small stream free-falling over a 40ft deeply recessed bluff (rock house).

NOTE1: This hike will be have approximately 2,300 feet of ascent and about 2 miles of very steep off-trail hiking. If you are not comfortable hiking off-trail on very steep terrain, then this hike will not be suitable for you. You should also have D4+ hiking experience to register for this hike.

Note2: This hike has many spectacular views of waterfalls, the Blue Valley, and mountains of NGa, NC, and SC. Therefore, we will be taking our time with many stops to enjoy these views/sights. If taking time to enjoy nature, sights, and views bothers you, and you are mostly interested in just 'hiking', then do not sign up for this.

We will be stopping for dinner in Clayton after the hike. If you do not wish to stop, you should make your plans known and either plan to drive your own vehicle or carpool accordingly.
