Itinerary:

This is not a casual ride.  We will be moving at a moderate to fast pace in and with traffic at times. Projected average is over 15 mph, including stops.

Join us for the FULL Big Creek Greenway & Forsyth Greenway Ride. For those of you who have not been on the FULL Big Creek Greenway, it is great!  It is very well maintained, clean, pretty and challenging. We might even see some wildlife. The Greenway is made up of mostly paved pathways through the woods with some boardwalks mixed in. We plan to do about 40 miles, starting from the Old Alabama Road lower parking lot area. Once done with the Alpharetta section there is a short road section that winds through an industrial park area (pretty safe with wide roads and shoulders for cyclists). From there we’ll rejoin the Greenway (Forsyth section (that is where it gets interesting, see middle of map above)). We'll ride to the end of the Forsyth Greenway, on Kelly Mill Rd. We’ll reach the end (re-group if necessary) grab a snack (self-supported) and head back!

We will be making a few planned “nature breaks” and a few random regrouping stops, but overall we’ll stop officially at the YMCA Lot (hope the restrooms are open), Marconi Lot, Kelly Mill Rd. and the same back).
The ride is suitable for a fast rider on a hybrid or cyclocross bike, but most ideal is a road bike...the pace is too fast for a mountain bike, so if you only have a mountain bike - please do not sign up.
**Please be sure you’re cool with the decking part of the Forsyth section; Road bikes are fine, just watch wet leaves, mold & mildew on platform.
**BE PREPARED TO RIDE IN AND WITH TRAFFIC**
You must have previous ride experience with me or a solid background in AOC cycling, you'll be removed if I believe it's a safety concern.
We will depart from the parking lot at 9:00 a.m. SHARP!

Event Directions:

GA 400 to exit 7 (Holcomb Bridge Rd) and go East towards Norcross

Left at second traffic light onto Old Alabama Rd (Second traffic light). McDonalds is on your right)

Go about 1/3 mile and entrance to Roswell Greenway is on your left - you will turn in to a small parking lot. There is a beige (I think) sign with green writing. Come through that parking lot (continuing away from Old Alabama Rd) and follow the paved road over the hill. There will be a parking area and small restroom building on your right. We'll meet by the restroom building. Jetboil hot coffee post ride – or a coffee run pending!
