Itinerary:

Have you ever wanted to do the standard D4 Kennesaw hike but were worried about the pace or getting separated from the group? If so this event is for you.

We will be taking the exact same route as the D4 event over Kennesaw Mountain and Little Kennesaw Mountains to Burnt Hickory Road and then returning back the same way over both mountains except at a slower pace and staying together. This should give D3 hikers an opportunity to see the type of terrain and elevation gain that is covered in harder events but kept manageable by the slower pace. I intend on keeping an intentially slower pace around 2 mph that will get us done in 3 hours.  The absolute fastest I will go is to finish in 2.5 hours but that will depend on the rest of the group. Even with the slower pace this will be a tough D3 due to the 1500+ ft of elevation gain

Please do not join this event if you want to go your own pace, there are plenty of other KM events to do that on.

We will meet outside of the visitor center.  Please allow time to find a parking space. We will be starting on time and will not wait for late comers.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

1) I-75 North to exit 267B Hwy 5 Canton Road Connector

2) If you are not heading west after getting off of the Interstate you are going the wrong way.  You should be heading towards US 41 and downtown Marietta after getting off of I-75 onto the Canton Road Connector and see Kennesaw Mountain on your right.

3) You will be tempted to take the first exit off of the Canton Road Connector which is US 41, but do not take it.  Proceed over US 41 on a bridge staying on the Canton Road Connector.

4) After crossing US 41 take a right at the first redlight which is Church Street Extenson.

5) You should cross railroad tracks soon.

6) Take a left onto Old 41 at the second redlight.  If you get to US 41 again, you have missed the turn onto Old 41 so turn around.

7) Stay on Old US 41 until you pass in front of the mountain.  Take a left at the red-light onto Stilesboro Road and then a left into the visitor's center parking lot.

8) If the parking lot is full (which is probable):  Go back to Old 41 and take a left.  Drive until you come to another left, which is a overflow parking lot for Kennesaw Mountain.
