Ride the Dragon!

Dragon Fly Trails - Columbus GA

Optional Post Event Lunch & Beverage

Sadly, we're CANCELLING this event because of the weather forecast in Columbus. We are posting an Aphraretta Greenway ride in it's place.

Columbus Georgia’s Dragonfly Trails are a system of multiuse, paved trails running through the downtown area of Columbus. We’ll ride the Chattahoochee Riverwalk Trail that winds along the Chattahoochee River and through the heart of downtown Columbus. We’ll also ride through downtown for a short distance on the Dragonfly Trail. The total ride will be about 25-27 miles in total. We’ll start in downtown Columbus, ride toward the river a mile or so, and then head north. When we read the north end of the Riverwalk, we’ll backtrack and ride along the river and beside the downtown area for about 12-15 miles. Once we reach the south end of the Riverwalk, we’ll head back north and visit a local pub/watering hole for a refreshing adult beverage and lunch.

Make note, these trails are new to the trip leaders. While the multiuse trails are limited to joggers, walkers, and any non-motorized modes of transportation, cycling on the trails requires so careful riding. Also, we’ll likely have to make a number of street crossings and some parts may have twists/turns that require you to walk your bike for a short distance. In short, while we will try to maintain a 10-12 mile an hour pace, we will also likely have to make some brief stops for traffic/crossings along the trail.

Bonus Ride! Inspecting google maps it appears there is a pedestrian bridge over to the Alabama side of the river with some additional river trails. We’ll do some exploring of these trails for about 2-3 miles.

Check out the following links for more info. After the bike ride, we’ll find a place for some food and beverages. We’ll head back to Atlanta about 4pm….ish.
