Itinerary:

Earth day is fast approaching!!

Earth day is a great way to celebrate the great outdoors whether it's by hiking, biking, kayaking or participating in a volunteer event. Our choice has always been to give back to our trail systems, so if you feel the same, then please come join us as we participate in REI's/Kennesaw Mountain trail Club Earth Day event.

If you are signed up with AOC, you MUST register for the REI event. They are only taking 50 volunteers. We are hoping AOC will have a good turnout to represent our club. Kennesaw Mountain is widely used by the AOC.

You will also be required to sign the REI waiver to participate. Click HERE for the waiver. The link is also on the event page and a link will also be emailed to you upon registration.

Per REI's site:
As part of the recognition of Earth Day 2019, The Kennesaw Mountain Trail Club, in conjunction with REI and Dry County Brewery, will be managing volunteers on a trail restoration project at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield. Bring your friends and family out to a fun-filled day of stewardship and celebration of our local outdoor places. We will be working on the Hardage Mill Trail inside the park. Along the Hardage Mill Trail, volunteers will be constructing grade dips for water diversion, fortifying water runoff areas, removing trip vines and rocks, and restoring trailhead fencing to provide trail sustainability, prevent further erosion of the trail, as well as, enhance the visitor experience in the park. The workload varies from light to moderately strenuous.

Volunteers will be provided with gloves, tools, water and a light snack during the morning. The trailhead is located at the corner of Old Mountain Road and Burnt Hickory Road in Marietta (Pigeon Hill parking lot on Google maps.) Click HERE to sign up today.

Join us after the project at Dry County Brewing for more Earth Day fun! Each volunteer over 21 will receive their first beer free!

No need to sign up for the gathering at Dry County Brewery, but click here for more details.

You may cancel your free class or event registration up until the start time of the class

Volunteering for environmental cleanups and trail maintenance activities are truly rewarding experiences and tons of fun at the same time, so I hope you can come out and join us.
