The Arkaquah Trail is one of the 3 trails that summits The Brasstown Bald (4,783 ft). It is one of North Georgia's steepest extended grades! We will be parking at the Track Rock Gap (2280 ft) just south of the Petroglyph Rocks. This will be a out and back with blue blaze trail. Our hike will began at the Arkaquah Trail in the Brasstown Bald Wilderness. We will crest the Buzzard Roost Ridge at 1.5 mile with a Mountain travel of 1500 ft gain finishing the 12th switch back. Going east with a roller coaster of uphills and ridges with 4 Mountains ranging from 3600 - 4,300 ft with various terrains and outcropping. Included in this section will be Chimney Top at 4.4 miles. As we exit from the Rhododendrum patch at mile 5.5 we will enter the Balldgrounds parking lot where we will stop for bathrooms and lunch. After lunch we turn our direction South to Jack Knob Trail. The trek will descend to Hwy 180 ( Jack's Gap) for our stop. After the break we retrace our steps back to The Brasstown Bald parking lot bathrooms for our final stop and then hike back to our cars. Approximated Mountain travel is around 6000 ft .This is a Mountain hike if you have not completed several D5-D6 and over 10 mile hikes with the A.O.C. in the North Ga Mountains DO NOT SIGN UP!
