Our backpacking will start at the trailhead of the Art Leob Trail. We will travel on the Art Leob Trail until we reach Deep Gap. At Deep Gap we will reach the Cold Mountain Trail. At this point, travel will be on the Cold Mountain Trail until we leave the trail (minor bushwhacking) to reach our camping area. The following morning we will return on the Cold Mountain Trail to Deep Gap. We will continue on the Art Leob Trail from where we turned off of it the previous day. While on the Art Leob Trail, we will be hiking across a rocky, knife-edge ridge called The Narrows to Stairs Mountain to Crawford Creek Gap to Shining Rock Gap. From the Shining Rock Gap we will be able to explore Shining Rock.

After this lunch stop and returning to Shining Rock Gap we will catch the Investor Gap Trail to the Little East Fork Trail back to our cars.

PLEASE NOTE: No campfires are permitted in this wilderness area.

Water source is approximately a half mile from the camping area. This will require an additional container to carry the water for our use at the camp area.
