Itinerary:

Please join me for a hike at Island Ford

We will meet at the second parking lot on the left. Start the hike with a loop around Pond Creek.  From here we will hike down to the Visitor Center for a restroom break. We will hike along the river until the trail turns west. Then we will zig zag back to the river competing the “lollipop” or second loop and return to the parking lot. We will be hiking at a moderate pace.  Total hike will be two hours and a half and approximately 5 miles. We will stop for a couple very brief water breaks.

Island Ford has many, many roots, ruts, uneven ground, etc. so hiking shoes are a must and hiking poles are suggested.

There are restrooms at the Visitor Center

Do not leave any valuables in your car including the trunk since vandalism has happened in the past.

What is the length of the Chattahooche River?
