Itinerary:

Celebrate the 4th of July at Jacks River Falls!

This adventure will take us into the Cohutta Wilderness to see one of the coolest waterfalls in Georgia.

We will venture down the Beech Bottom Trail for four miles until we hit the Jacks River. We will make a right turn, and in a half mile we will be at the falls. The half mile leading to the falls will include several wet feet crossings. At the falls we will stop for lunch and a leisurely swim. We will then retrace our steps to complete our out and back adventure. We will be moving at a moderate pace (2.5 mph) to keep the group together.

This is normally a D3 level hike, but there are many downed trees that we must maneuver around, over and below to reach our destination.

If you are expecting an easy stroll through the woods, this may not be the best event for you, but if you are looking for a fun adventure, SIGN UP!

Event Directions:

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $66.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Notes:

Getting to the trailhead requires driving on Forest Service Roads.

This is a fair weather event... if the weather looks too threatening, the event will be rescheduled.

We will be stopping at the river to change into our water shoes.
