Join us bright and early to hike first to the top of the mountain and then around in July cool morning hours. Hopefully we will see beautiful sunrise, get good invigorating exercise from hiking up/around, and then spent few minutes for yoga at the end - to loosen muscles, and improve stretch and balance (yoga part is optional).
We will meet and start our hike at the Confederate Hall Parking Lot ( close to restrooms). From there we will take the Walk Up Mountain Trail to the summit of Stone Mountain. There we will take 15-20 min brake to enjoy the sunrise, have breakfast or snacks. Then we will go down the same trail until we intersect Cherokee Trail. We will take Cherokee Trail going clockwise and make a loop around the stone, enjoying views around the lake, and fresh air in the morning hours. At the last part we will switch from Cherokee to Nature Trail, and then hop on Connecting trail back to parking.
Before signing up make sure you are comfortable hiking on rocky and at spots - wet, slippery rocky surfaces. We will hike with moderate pace (approximately 2.5 miles per hour) with few stops to enjoy scenery. The total hike distance will be around 7.5 miles, with about 800 feet of elevation gain.
