Itinerary:

Blood Mountain is the highest peak on the Georgia section of the Appalachian Trail and the sixth-tallest mountain in Georgia, with an elevation of 4,458 feet. So join me for catching stunning views from the AT’s highest summit in Georgia.

We will start our hike from the Lake Winfield Scott parking lot at 9:30 AM sharp toward Jarrard Gap. From there, we will hike on the Applachian Trail to Blood Mountain, where we take break and have lunch, We then return on the Slaughter Creek trail to Lake Winfield Scott.

Overall, the hike will be around 8 miles with some strenuous climbing at a moderate and steady pace. Approximate elevation gain for this hike is 2,000 ft.

We will stop at all of the major turns/crossroads to keep the group together and take necessary water breaks. We expect approximately 4.5 - 5.hours of hiking.

For those that are meeting at the event we will start our hike at 9:30 AM.

Because of the distance and elevation gain, this is not a beginners hike, but still a good introduction to hiking in the North Georgia mountains. If your AOC history does not show recent D3 or higher experience, then I will contact you to confirm this event is appropriate for your current level.

Please Note: There is $5.00 parking fee
