Join Bruce at the end of his birthday week (4 days after) for this incredibly scenic hike in North and South Carolina. From the parking lot it is a short walk to the overlooks to Upper Whitewater Falls, some 441’ tall, tallest waterfall east of the Mississippi. From the lower overlook, we descend into the Whitewater Gorge on a winding trail replete with spring wildflowers of many types, including many trillium, and others along the way. The trail follows the Whitewater River for a couple of miles, before turning inland to the trail to Lower Whitewater Falls in South Carolina. It is also some 400’ tall. After many photo opportunities and climbing out of the Whitewater Gorge and back to our cars, those who want can dine afterwards at a quaint and inexpensive diner in Walhalla, SC.

Required Items to Bring:
good supportive shoes-hiking boots if you have them
2 liters or quarts of water
packed trail lunch (we will eat by the Whitewater River)
