Itinerary:

I have been doing this often myself, but it is first time being posted as group trip, it is experimental and for the adventurers. The event is formed of two activities - trail running part and hiking part.

We will trail run first around the mountain strarting from Confederate Hall Parking Lot and taking Cherokee, Connecting, and Nature Trails for about 5.2 miles. We will keep steady, slow to moderate pace above 3 miles per hour, with few short breaks on scenic spots.

Prepare with light gear for the trail run so you are being comfortable.

After we are back to parking, we will have 15 min to get ready for the hiking part - change gear and clothes, bathrooms, if you might.

Hiking part will be around 2 miles, with about 800 feet of elevation gain.

We will take the North Side trail to the Summit of Stone Mountain. We should be there just on time for observation of both October Hunter's Full Moon rise and Sunset, hopefully weather will be nice for that. We will spent some time to enjoy the views there, and if you wish have snack or dinner.

After that we will hike down on the main Walk Up trail back to parking. Be ready to have your flashlights/headlamps handy for this part.

We might do some yoga after the trail run or at the Summit of the mountain depending on the group preferences. This part is optional.

Before signing up make sure you are comfortable running/hiking for extended period of time on rocky, steep, or covered with tree roots surfaces. If wet some of the rocky parts will be very slippery.

This event is good base training for longer trips in wilderness areas.

Event might get canceled due to weather conditions.
