Itinerary:

Len Foot Hike Inn is a favorite destination of us AOCers and a common approach to this place is via Amicalola Falls State Park. Seasoned hikers  use this hike for training and new or re-incarnated hikers hike this trail out of curosity. There is a different innovative approach to get there too, ie to start your hike from Springer Mountain Parking Lot. From Springer Mountain Parking Lot, its little over a mile to get to iconic Springer Mountain top, then there is a descent to Black Gap and then to Nimblewill Gap, here Amicalola Mountain Rd (A gravel Rd) intersects. Here you will see a plaque telling the  story of plane crash hapenned at this spot few decades ago. Then trail take steep ascent. Shortly you will see a cross road sign, left is Hike Inn (1 mile) and straight is Amicalola Falls Park (4.3 Miles). We will turn left towards Hike Inn.

At Hike Inn we will have lunch or snacks  take pictures and head back the same way. Its an in and out hike. The return journey involve more ascent.

After reaching Springer Mountain top and while taking that final mile back to the parking lot, we will take a quick detour of 0.2 miles to see historic shelter and campsite used by AT and Benton MacKaye hikers.

We will keep a good fast pace, however please be aware that the rating of this hike is between moderate to fast; definitely not a FAST FAST. So if you are racing type hiker then this hike isn't for you.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

If you are planning to meet the group at the event then put this address on GPS and meet the group at 8.30 am. From this point we will together take 6.5 mile drive at forest service gravel rd to Springer Parking lot.

8510 Doublehead Gap Rd, Ellijay, Ga 30513

Please avoid using google map to get to Springer Parking Lot, it will give you a complicated route of forest service roads and most likely you may loose signal while driving
