Itinerary:

If you would like to hike more miles in Cumming and have the second part of the day for yourself, the Haw Creek and Sawnee Mountain hikes could be what you are looking for...

This will be the second part of the Double D2s in Forsyth. We will be hiking Haw Creek previous to this hike.

Located north of Atlanta in Cumming, Georgia, Sawnee Mountain Preserve provides visitors with 963 acres of scenic passive space, that includes 11 miles of hiking trails, picnic areas and an interactive Visitor Center.  We will meet at the Spot road location in front of the Visitor center and hike the Preseve side trail to the Indian Seats. The elevation gain is approximately 1600 ft.

We will start our hike Saturday promptly at 11.30 am

Please arrive a few minutes before the start time to check in.

We will do the Indian Seats loop only on this hike.  

Previous to this hike we will be hiking Haw Creek at 9:30 am

Exit 15 Bald Ridge Marina Rd/Cumming
Left towards downtown Cumming
Right at third traffic light on Tribble Gap Road - a.k.a. Bettis Tribble Gap (City of Cumming clock tower will be on your right)
Go approximately 4 miles (go past one Sawnee Mountain Visitor's Center on your right) and then go right on to Spot Road. You will see the entrance to the Visitor's Center on your right across from Twin Lakes Rd.

Notes:

There are two parking areas - Spot Rd and Bettis-Tribble Gap Rd.  We are meeting at the Spot Road location.  If you are not sure where it is, please look for the directions above.

Dogs are not allowed at this preserve.
