Itinerary:
Please join us for a fun day at Kennesaw Mountain!

We'll do a 17.5 mile loop of the park, with brief stops along the way to enjoy the sights plus a 30-minute lunch break. Our moving pace will average upwards of 3 mph -- brisk but not brutally fast.

Our Route:  Beginning at the visitor center, we'll go over the mountain and continue south to the southern edge of the park at Kolb's Farm. We'll break for lunch at the nearby Subway/Kroger shopping center. We'll take a different route heading back, passing the Illinois Monument and the New Salem Church ruins on the return to the visitor center.

This is a challenging hike, coupling endurance with more elevation than you might expect. We'll cross the mountain once, plus there are rolling hills in other sections. We won't be trying to set any speed records, but some members may find it difficult to maintain an average pace of 3 mph for such a long distance.

This event is rated a D5 for elevation gain and distance; it requires recent D5 experience.
