Itinerary:

Come join us for an out and back scenic hike. You will experience mountain creeks and streams, a wonderful lake, and the historic AT. We will start at the trailhead of Dockery Lake with bathrooms available. Heading north, we will enjoy a nice view of the lake, then the trail briefly runs parallel with Pigeon Roost Creek. We’ll hike 3.7 miles to the AT then head south to Woody Gap for another bathroom break.

After the break we will head back up north toward Big Cedar Mountain for lunch on Preaching Rock. After we have finished lunch we will hike back down the AT to the intersection with the Dockery Lake trail. We will follow this trail back down to our starting point before we return back to Atlanta.

We will keep a steady pace, with occasional breaks. If you have not completed a D4 or D5 recently, we will contact you to determine if this hike is right for you. Photo taken by Jenay Thompson.
