Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue.
This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.
GSMNP is the premier hiking location in the southeast, but there is more to it than Alum Cave, Charlies Bunion etc... Come with us and explore some other awesome trails!

Come see the 360 views so awesome that they inspired a song!
We will start on the Lead Cove Trail for 1.6 miles of uphill climb to Sandy Gap. A junction with the Bote Mountain Trail will meet us and a right turn will keep us headed in the right direction. 2.5 miles of uphill climb will bring us to the white blaze of the AT for a left turn and another mile of uphill climb to get to the top of Rocky Top, Rocky Top Tennessee! We will feast on lunch and 360 views until we retrace our steps back to our cars. On the way back we will take the Anthony Creek Trail to the Crib Gap Trail for a change of scenery.
This hike is either a difficult D5 or an "easy" D6, only our GPS knows! Either way, recent strenuous hiking is required to join the fun. We will be averaging about 2.7 mph which puts our pace on the high end of moderate.
|How to Get There:|
We will meet at the trailhead for a 10am start, it's a long drive so set your alarm clock! Trailhead location
