Itinerary:

Let's enjoy some spectacular fall scenery along the trail from Amicalola Falls to the Len Foote Hike Inn!  We'll meet at the top of the falls parking lot.  Our hike will take us up the Approach Trail for about 4.25 miles then turn right for the last mile to the Hike Inn.  This is a challenging route with several stiff climbs and a total elevation gain of about 1100 feet.  We will not be on a speed hike, but you should be confident that you can maintain a steady pace up steep ascents in order to keep up with the group.

A moderate pace will get us to the Hike Inn around noon for a quick break for snacks and photos.  The Hike Inn website says hikers may enter the dining room to enjoy whatever drinks are available, but no snacks are available and lingering in the dining room is discouraged.  They usually appreciate a cash tip. Normally the Hike Inn allows hikers to use their restrooms.

Update: Highly placed AOC sources indicate the Hike Inn is not allowing day hikers in the dining room.  Use of the restrooms is probably not allowed.  Be flexible and don't rely on support at the Inn.

Update #2:  The Hike Inn informed AOC that they allow day hikers to use the restrooms and obtain drinks in the dining room.  Still no snacks and still no lingering in the dining room.   As always... be flexible and bring what you need for an enjoyable outing.

After our break, we'll take the scenic Len Foote Hike Inn trail and descend to the parking lot.
