Itinerary:

The Duncan Ridge Trail starts at Three Forks and winds its way to Blood Mt. It is a difficult, remote trail with outstanding payoffs and challenges.  Join me in a series of hikes to explore the DRT from start to finish.

  • Part I:  Toccoa River Swinging Bridge to Three Forks
  • Part II:  Toccoa Swinging Bridge to Rhodes Mt
  • Part III: Mulkey Gap to Rhodes Mt.
  • Part IV:  Mulkey Gap to Coosa Mt.
  • Part V:   Georgia Triple Crown

Part III - Mulkey Gap to Rhodes Mt.

This is my favorite hike on the Duncan Ridge!

Join me as I start at Mulkey Gap and make my way to the intersection of the BMT at Rhodes Mountain. We will be climbing five mountains on the way: Clements Mt, High Top, Payne Knob, Gregory Knob and Rhodes Mt. We will be getting some nice winter views as we make our way. We will eat lunch on Rhodes Mountain before we retrace our steps back to the cars. We will be moving on the high side of moderate with an average rate of 2.75 mph.

This hike is almost 14 miles with 3500 ft of gain, it is on the high end of the D5 scale and requires recent D5 experience to join the fun.
