This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Join me as I explore the Talladega National Forest in Alabama.

This hike is in the Central time zone, but all times listed for the event are in EASTERN!

We will start on the Pinhoti trail and enjoy a beautiful ridge walk all the way to McDill Point where we will explore the wreckage of a plane crash and take in the big vista view. After taking in the view we will continue on the Pinhoti until we intersect with the Cave Creek Trail. We will only be on the Cave Creek for about a half mile where we will meet the intersection with the Nubbin Creek Trail. We will hike downhill on the Nubbin Creek past waterfalls and creeks for about 2.5 miles where we will turn around, retrace our steps for about 3 miles but continue on the Cave Creek trail to create a loop back to our cars.  Somewhere along the way we will stop for lunch.

We will need to cross a few creeks, hopefully rock hopping, but bring a pair of water shoes and poles just in case.

This is a difficult D5 hike, recent D5 experience is required to join the fun.
