Itinerary:

We will start hiking at 8:30 AM, taking the Byron Reece access trail south until it intersects with the Applachian Trail at Flatrock Gap. From there, we will take the AT east towards Neels Gap. After crossing the road at Neels Gap and taking a short  break, we will continue east on the AT until we get to Cowrock Mountain, where we will have lunch. After lunch, we will head back, retracing our steps. On our way back, we will stop for a little bit at Neels Gap before continuing west on the AT, and taking the Byron Reece trail back to our cars.

The total distance for this hike is about 13 miles with about 3100 feet of total elevation gain. You need to have recent D5 experience and be able to hike at a moderate pace to keep up with the group. The Event End Time stated on this page is an estimate, so flexibility is required.

there is NO carpool for this event. We will meet at Byron Reece Memorial parking lot at 8:30.
