Itinerary:

Let's cap off the weekend with some hiking at the Cochran Shoals area along the Chattahoochee River.  It is one of the largest and most popular "parks" in the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. And as such, to avoid a lot of people, we'll veer off the main trail after about 1/4 mile and remain on the back trails until we circle back to it in about 2 1/2 miles. I think total mileage will be about 4 1/2 miles. We'll keep a decent pace to beat the darkness, but the sunset is beautiful from this location. The terrain is up and down, some of it is fairly steep but only for short distances.

We'll meet towards the left side of the kiosk.

Due to Covid, physical distance of 6 - 10 feet to be maintained.  You'll want to have a mask in the parking lot.

The parking lot can fill up; there is over flow parking on the east side of the river.

Leave yourself enough time to park and pay the $5.00 fee.  ($40.00 annual fee)  The kiosk is near the trail head.  You may need to park on the east side of the overpass/bridge if the parking lot is full.  But this late in the afternoon, there's decent chance to park at the location where we start the hike.

If you bring a dog, it must be well behaved and on leash at all times.  And, you have to pick up it's poop and carry out the poop bag.

There are bathrooms and a drinking fountain at the main parking lot.

We'll start the hike promptly at 4:00pm.
