Itinerary:

The Rottenwood Creek trail connects the Chattahoochee River trail in West Palisades with the Bob Callan trail and as you may have guessed it follows the Rottenwood Creek which powered the old Akers Mill and provides minor cascades for us to enjoy along the way for much of the hike.

There is a slight ascent from the river on the way out measuring 164 feet.

The hike is 100% pavement.

We will start at the restrooms (which are open) in the back of the Paces Mill Boat Ramp lot

Our speed will be up to 3.7 mph

The average speed will be 3.5 mph

Drive to Paces Mill for the start.  We will convene by the restroom building in the back parking lot at Paces Mill off Cobb Parkway bridge.

We will take the trail from Paces Mill to the Rottenwood Creek trail.

Rottenwood Creek 4 mile trail (280 feet elevation gain) should have enough slope for the pavement to drain relatively well after the preceding rains.

At Akers Mill Road, the Rottenwood Trail name changes to Bob Callan but continues to follow the creek.

This is an in and out hike.

Here are a few posts on AllTrails:

"A great mix between the urban atlanta area, and the wildlife / Chattahoochee river. Great for walking, hiking, and running as well."

"Gorgeous walk with plenty of scenery, both natural and urban. Great way to spend an afternoon."

Clothing (wear)

I suggest cushioned shoes such as running shoes for the pavement.
