This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Join me on this fun hike along the Hiawasses River and Coker Creek on the iconic Benton MacKaye Tral. I did this hike in December, but we were unable to make it to the falls. Now that I know the way, we should be able to complete the hike.

We will start our adventure at the Towee Creek Picnic area. We will pick the White Diamond blazed BMT for 5 miles of river and vista view filled treking before meeting up with the Coker Creek Trail.  Our first mile will be an uphill slog similar to climbing Kennesaw Mountain. The Coker Creek trail clings to its' namesake creek for 2.5 miles with several waterfalls along the way. There is one creek crossing that may require wet feet, so water shoes may be a good idea. At one of the scenic waterfalls we will stop for lunch before retracing our steps back to our cars to complete our out and back adventure. Depending on the route we take, we may need to do an "extra hill" to earn our D6 rating.

We will be moving at about 2.7 MPH throughout this hike, putting our pace on the high side of moderate. This 16 mile hake has over 4000 feet of ascent making it a difficult D6 hike, so recent D6 experience is required to join the fun.
