Welcome to our Thursday afternoon hike! Due to the rainy weather recently, our usual morning hike is being changed to an afternoon hike. Island Ford has much to offer in the its variety of surfaces, views of the Chattahoochee, which usually hosts numerous geese and sometimes even a heron, and lots of short, challenging hills which get our hearts pumping!
The AOC is following CDC guidelines, so please keep a mask in your pocket in case we pass people on the trails and can't keep 6 feet apart.
|How to Get There:|
1906 Island Ford Pkwy, Sandy Springs, GA
From northbound US 19 and GA 400
From southbound US 19 and GA 400
Once you enter the main gate, drive down the road about .6 miles until you see the sign for the Hewlett Pond parking lot on the left, above road level. The pond will be on your right if you drive past the lot.
Restrooms may still be closed, so plan accordingly.
Parking is $5, payable online or with your smartphone at the parking lot. No cash accepted. Park passes may be purchased in advance at https://www.nps.gov/chat/planyourvisit/fees.htm
* We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines while participating in AOC events.
Cancellation/Partial Attendance: Please review the AOC cancellation policy.
Please cancel your registration yourself up to the time of the hike if you can't join us after all. It puts an unnecessary burden on the trip leaders to ask them to delete your registration before the hike starts.
