Itinerary:

I recently have become obsessed with the Pinhoti Trail. It is very cool, not too far from home and seldom done by the AOC. Join me as a do a 15 mile section of this long trail starting at Snake Creek Gap.

We start at Snake Creek Gap where a large parking area awaits our arrival. Heading north, we quickly begin our biggest climb of the day, a 1.5 mile, 500 foot climb. Not a terrible climb, but enough to get your attention and your heart beating. We now enjoy a long ridge walk on top of Mill Creek Mountain with nice views to the west. As the trail makes a dramatic turn to the south we begin our descent and finally our climb of Middle Mountain. At the 7.5 mile point the trail makes another dramatic turn, this time to the north. This will be our turn around point. We will retrace our steps back to our cars to complete our out and back adventure.

Somewhere along the way we will stop for lunch. We will be averaging about 2.8 mph putting our pace at the hign end of the moderate range.

This is a long D5 hike, so recent appropriate experience is required to join the fun.
