Itinerary:

Sunrise at Summit and Hike around

Join me for a hike up and around the big rock at Stone Mountain park to get good exercise, enjoy spring green, and celestial wonders.

We will meet and start our hike at the Confederate Hall Parking Lot (close to restrooms). From there we will take the Walk Up Mountain Trail to the Summit of Stone Mountain. There we will have a 15-20 min brake for pictures taking/ breakfast/snacks. Then we will go down the same trail until we intersect Cherokee Trail. We will take the Cherokee Trail going clockwise and make a loop around the stone, enjoying views around the lake. At the last part we will switch from Cherokee to Connecting and Nature Trails, until we get back to the parking lot.

Before signing up make sure you are comfortable hiking on some wet and slippery rock surfaces. We will hike at a moderate pace (approximately 2.5 miles per hour) with few stops to enjoy the scenery. The total hike distance will be around 7.1 miles, with about 800 feet of elevation gain. This is D3 event at upper range of its difficulty
