Itinerary:

Join us for a relaxed 5 mile hike on the Cherokee Trail around Stone Mountain.  Let’s meet at the Grist Mill for introductions, and then head counterclockwise, going toward the lawn first and ending with the lake-shore. We will use the connector trail to go around the base of the walk-up trail, instead of doing any climbing of the mountain.  We will take it easy, going approx 2 – 2.5 miles per hour, with the opportunity to take a bathroom break and the option to take photos if you like (Deer not guaranteed).

2 well behaved, leashed dogs welcome, first two to email TL Rosemary to confirm.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

The Grist Mill is located on the East Side of Stone Mountain, on Robert E Lee Blvd at the juncture where  it becomes a one way street.  From the main entrance, follow the road to the Left, past the lawn and the Skyride, and past the waterfront REI location.  The Grist Mill is on your left just before the roundabout, near the covered bridge turnoff. If you come from the smaller West entrance, from downtown Stone Mountain, you can turn right just inside the park gate and take Robert E Lee Blvd as a one way street; when it becomes a 2 way street, after the roundabout, the Grist Mill will be on your right.

Stone Mountain does charge for parking ($20/day or $40/year).  If you would like to avoid this fee you can park in downtown Stone Mountain and walk or bike in along the trail on the west side – however, we are beginning our hike on the far opposite side of the park so anticipate adding a few miles onto your adventure if you choose this option.

Notes:

A daily parking pass to Stone Mountain Park is $20, or you can purchase an annual pass for $40.
