Itinerary:

We'll meet at the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park Visitor Center for a moderately paced walk up Kennesaw Mountain, Little Kennesaw, down to Burnt Hickory Rd, then returning on the Brumby side trail.  From the Visitor Center be prepared for a steep 1 mile climb up to Kennesaw Mountain where we will stop briefly to enjoy the view of Marrieta and beyond.  A steep downhill leads to another short climb which will get us to the top of Little Kennesaw, then a little rock hopping and some up and down will lead us to Burnt Hickory Road.  We'll turn around and climb partly up Pigeon Hill then take the first cut-off to the Brumby trail around the east side of the mountain and back to the visitor center.  Even though we won't push for any speed records, you need to be in shape to keep up on the ascents.  Some of the hike is over difficult, rocky trails - not for the beginner.  The hike should take a little over 2 hours plus time for a couple of brief pauses.

Arrive early enough for the 10 minute walk from overflow parking.
