Itinerary:

We will start out from Byron Reese, then join the AT to summit Blood Mtn.  We will stop for lunch at Lake Winfield Scott and enjoy the views, then return back on the Slaughter creek trail.


Required Items to Bring:
  • 2-3 Liters of Water or sports drink
  • Lunch and Trail Snacks
  • Good hiking shoes/boots
  • Change of clothes/socks/shoes and towel for ride home (especially if you are carpooling)
  • Cash for Carpool

How to Get There:

Take GA 400/US 19 north to Dahlonega.  Then take US 19 north to where it joins US 129 at Turners Corner. Continue north on US 19/129 to Byron Reese Parking.

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $52.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
