Itinerary:

Do you want to do a D5 Mountain hike but stay close to home?

Join me on Pine Mountain in Cartersville as we take a high moderate pace (3 mph) for 3 passes at the summit.

We will start by going clockwise on the West loop and head straight for the David Archer Overlook.  If you haven't been to the overlook, you are missing out... one of the best views in the ATL. After snapping a picture or two, we will  head downhill going clockwise on the East Loop.  At about the half way point of the loop we will veer off towards the Allatoona Dam and Coopers Furnace. We will visit the Dam first, where another awesome view will greet us.  We will break here for a quick snack before heading down the service road to Coopers Furnace.  There are bathrooms at the furnace for our convenience. Now we will head back to the East Loop to finish our Clockwise loop. When we get back to the top we will head over to the West Loop to finish our Clockwise loop on the west side.  When we get back to the bottom we will do the West Loop again, this time with a CCW direction completing our 3rd climb to the top.

We will be stopping at all trail intersections to regroup.

This 10 mile hike will have 2500ft of ascent and will be at a quick pace (3 mph), so recent D4/D5 experience is a must for this hike. You must complete the entire hike to get credit.
