This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

There is no other place like The Needles in Canyonland.   (see attached links for descriptions and photos) Names (and even photos) like Upper Lost Canyon, Chesler Park Overlook, Druid Arch, Peekaboo Spring and Elephant Canyon only hint at what we will explore! We will spend 4 nights camping and 4 days daypacking the Big Needles backcountry. (There will be a short 2 mile backpack to our 2 nights camping IN the backcountry.) We will have two 4-door SUVs. We will spend a day at nearby Arches.  Weather this time of year is almost always sunny with highs in the low 70s and lows in the mid 40s. There will be some bolder scrambling over buttes and into canyons. Canyon bottom trails are sandy along dry riverbeds and vegetation (some in bloom). Over buttes we follow cairnes with wide views and skirting giant canyon walls.

This trip is a minimum group size of 4 and maximum of 7. All who sign- up will be first placed on waitlist until trip leader approval based on capability and compatability. If approved, Trip Leader will move you over. (See anticipated costs for flight, ground transportaion, camping fees, permits,  hotel under additional notes.) There is a $25.00 fee to AOC for all extended travel events.
